Abstract

Plan for assessment and improvement of the sustainability index in the development of palm bioenergy for electricity

Abstract: This study examines environmental, social, and economic aspects, including GHG emissions, soil quality, and income changes. The study utilizes Fuzzy AHP and MDS to assess sustainability, revealing a moderately sustainable development with a score of 56.14%. Key f i ndings highlight fi ve sensitive attributes aff ecting sustainability, and a score of 56.41% for PKS Terantam suggests reasonable sustainability. Recommendations include extending assessments to other mills, promoting bioenergy conversion into electricity, and adopting a holistic approach to long-term sustainability in palm oil development in Riau.

Keywords: palm oil, bioenergy sustainability, environmental impact, social implications, economic aspects
